Title Clerk
Job Title: Title/Billing Clerk
Department: Accounting
Reports to: Controller
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary: The Title/Billing Clerk processes car deals, verifies costs, and prepares legal transfer of documents for the DMV.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare tax and title documents.
- Submit all legal transfer documents to the DMV.
- Prepare stock cards for new and used vehicles.
- Receive and process paperwork from the F&I department.
- Prepare payoff checks for new vehicles and trade-ins.
- Post vehicle sales and purchases.
- Input inventory control information.
- Report new car sales to the manufacturer.
- Order new vehicles on computer.
- Register extended service policy contracts.
- Prepare trade-in vehicle jackets.
- Ensure that name and address filed are updated on an ongoing basis.

Education & Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as sales agreements, tax and title documents, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, employees and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, & Registration:
Current, valid, driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) are required.
